Spring Trip to Orlando 2024

About our learning experience…

We will be traveling to sunny Orlando, Florida from March 7-10, 2024 to participate in the Sound Design STARS Performance Workshop at Universal Resort.

The Universal STARS Performance Program help students in band, orchestra, choir dance and other performing arts practice teamwork while refining their showmanship skills as they get a taste of the spotlight.

A trip like this is a great way for students to learn, have fun with their friends, and make memories that last a lifetime!

If you have paid your $350 and need to pay for the rest of the trip please pay the remaining$380 using this link.  Due date January 26.

 

If you are deciding to attend the trip late, please talk with Dr. Laux first, then pay the full amount of of $730 using this link.  Due date January 26.

 

What are we doing?   

  • The STARS Performance Program: Sound Design Workshop & two days at the Universal Orlando Theme Park
  • We will be reinforcing National Core Arts Standards, our orchestra students will experience life as working movie musicians performing original underscores, creating Foley effects, and selecting digital sound effects for animated movie scenes.

When are we going?

  • March 7-10, 2024
  • Students will miss a partial school day on Thursday, March 7 and the entire day on Friday, March 8.
  • We will leave Lassiter High School on March 7th at noon. We anticipate to return On March 10th at 6pm.

How much does it cost?

  • Total cost will be $700-$725 (pending final details)
  • Initial deposit of $350 is due by November 15. This will reserve your spot on the trip.  First come, first served.
  • Final balance will be due February 1, 2024
  • LHSOA yearly dues payment ($150) is required prior to paying for the trip deposit or registering
  • There are no refunds on deposits or trip payments.  No exceptions.

What’s covered?

  • Coach bus transportation, 3 nights at Sheraton hotel, breakfast at hotel, Sound design workshop, and 2 day pass for Universal (park hopper)

What’s not covered?

  •  Meals, snacks, drinks, souvenirs

Additional Information

  • This trip it completely OPTIONAL and is available for any interested orchestra students to attend.
  • Chaperone sign ups to come in the next few months
  • Sign up to room with your friends in January
  • No refunds once deposit or additional payments are made. *NO EXCEPTIONS*

Directions on how to complete the online Field Trip permission form on ParentVue…

1. Log in to ParentVue on a web browser (not the phone app).
2. On the left hand side, select Family Information Guide. Click on it (it’s a white box), click ACKNOWLEDGE at the top. Once you’ve done this step, you don’t have to do it again. 
3. On the left hand side, select Student Information
4. Select Student Field Trip Permission
5. Field Trips will be green and it will say “action required”
6. Complete all fields and save after each section. 
7. For other trips, the information should pre-populate.
